Stanford completed an undefeated home schedule and said goodbye to the bouncy floors of Maples Pavilion with last Saturday's win over the University of Oregon. The Cardinal now travels to Washington and tries to finish out the Pac-10 regular season undefeated. With only two games left in Pac-10 play, the Cougars and the Huskies will be looking to knock off the number one team in the country.

This week the Cardinal handed losses to Oregon State and Oregon in the final games played at 36 year-old Maples Pavilion. Renovations have begun on the stadium and it will be ready for conference play in January of 2005. Thursday evening, Stanford defeated Oregon State by a score of 73-47, holding the Beavers to 2-13 shooting on three-pointers. Point guard Chris Hernandez led the team with 13 points, while Josh Childress had a great all-around game with 12 points, five assists, two rebounds, a steal and a block. Reserves played much of the second half, as freshman Fred Washington scored a career high 11 points on 4-5 shooting and also had a huge block late in the game. Eleven different players scored for the Cardinal. On Senior Day, Stanford easily won its final home game of the season 76-55 against Oregon. Josh Childress played a brilliant game with 29 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Making only his second career start, senior Joe Kirchofer had his best collegiate game ever, recording 13 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double. The Cardinal now holds a 25 game winning streak as it travels north for its last two Pac-10 regular season games.

On Thursday, the Cardinal will face the Washington State Cougars at 7:00 pm in Pullman, Washington. Washington State lost to Stanford 73-51 earlier in the season. The Cougars (12-14, 6-9 in the Pac-10) are returning from a trip to Arizona, where they won 83-70 against Arizona State and fell 72-60 against Arizona. Junior Thomas Kelati, who averages 10 points, scored a career high 27 points in the loss against Arizona. The Cougars are led by guard Marcus Moore, who scores 13.6 points per game but shoots only .382 from the floor.

The Washington Huskies have taken over second place in the Pac-10 after winning 10 of their last 11 conference games, including two wins over Pac-10 powerhouse Arizona. This last week, the Huskies won at Arizona 89-84 before rolling over Arizona State 96-72. Sophomore Brandon Roy was recently voted Pac-10 player of the week after scoring 12 points and dishing out 8 assists in the win against Arizona, and then scoring 22 points with five rebounds and five assists against Arizona State. He is averaging 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds while leading the team in minutes played. Nate Robinson is another scoring threat. He averages 12.5 points and led the team with 16 points in Stanford's 85-72 win over Washington earlier in the season. The Huskies are one of the most athletic teams in the conference and will be hungry to beat the top team in the country. The Cardinal will have a tough test if they hope to finish the Pac-10 regular season undefeated.

Scouting Stanford
A 25-0 record, a #1 national ranking, a victory over a former #1 ranked team, four victories over nationally-ranked teams, 14 wins over teams with winning records and nine road victories in nine games ... Conference Champions
For the fourth time in the last six years, Stanford is champion of the Pacific-10 Conference ... A 76-67 victory at USC (2/19/04) clinched at least a tie for the title, and then a 73-60 victory at UCLA (2/12/04) gave the Cardinal sole possession of the conference trophy ... Stanford has finished either first or second in the Pac-10 in the last eight seasons.

Road Review
Since the 1997-98 season, the Cardinal is 63-11 (.851) on enemy turf ... Stanford's Streak
Stanford's 25-game winning streak is the longest in the Pac-10 since Oregon State won 26 straight during the 1980-81 season ... Oregon was up, 45-26, early in the second half, but Stanford whittled away the Duck lead until All-America candidate Josh Childress gave the Cardinal its first lead since the opening basket with a three-pointer that made it 70-69 with 3:50 left ... Chris Hernandez scored all 22 of his points in the second half, and Stanford scored on all 15 of its final possessions in the second half ... Then against Arizona (2/7/04), Nick Robinson hit a running 35-foot basket as time ran out to give Stanford a highly dramatic 80-77 victory over the Wildcats ...
